Sergio Aguero’s shoulder ‘pops out’ after challenge as Man City legend admits ‘desire’ to make return to football

Sergio Aguero only played 11 minutes of a legend’s match this weekend after seemingly dislocating his shoulder.

The former Manchester City and Argentina striker made his return to the pitch for a game marking Independiente‘s 120th anniversary.

He was one of many club icons who were part of the fixture but his appearance didn’t last very long.

Aguero raced into the box looking to score his team’s second goal, however, he was pushed to the ground by an opponent.

The 35-year-old fell onto his left arm and rolled before sitting up and grasping his shoulder in pain.

He then lay down in the box and was surrounded by teammates who eventually helped him to his feet.

Medics finally reached Aguero and he seemed to inform them of his injury before exiting the pitch after only 11 minutes.

Speaking after he was substituted, he told a touchline reporter: “I think my shoulder came out.”

He seemed in good spirits despite the injury, smiling as he walked off.

Aguero is returning to football after being forced to retire in 2021 due to a heart condition.

The former Argentina star was diagnosed with heart arrhythmia following some chest discomfort while playing for Barcelona.

Due to that, he had to call time on his professional playing career and he has not played since.

However, there were some reports that he may be returning to play after a doctor told him he could come back.

Aguero played down those rumours but has given an update on whether he will be able to play again.

He told TNT Sports: “Two days ago I did another study and everything went very well.

“Now I’m going to Madrid because I have a tournament, and then to Mexico and the United States for other tournaments. And now I’ll see how I am. 

“One never knows but the excitement and the desire is always to return. I don’t want to excite people in that sense. The first thing I want is to be well. 

“The desire is always there, I understand that they are excited and I am too, but I don’t want to excite people.”
