Whether you’re a Manchester City fan or not, everyone will appreciate just how brilliant Sergio Aguero is. Or was.

Sadly, the Premier League legend and top scoring City player of all time is hanging up his boots just six months after joining Barcelona due to a heart condition.

His time in the north west of England was nothing short of outstanding as he helped City establish themselves as a football powerhouse.

There were countless moments of Aguero excellence but his highlight was surely at the climax of the 2011/12 season when his stoppage-time goal saw City claim a first league title in 44 years, snatching it from Manchester United’s grasp in the process.

There was one trophy missing from his CV, however, and came close to winning the Champions League in his final season in the Premier League.

Aguero's lot

He has won a lot in ten years, but there is something missing, which he could win this year

Five League Cups
One FA Cup
Four Premier League titles – and closing in on a fifth

Despite this, he also has a number of individual achievements to boast. Aguero has won more Premier League Player of the Month awards than any player in the competition’s history, winning it a staggering seven times.

But his ruthless goalscoring is what he’ll be best remembered for. Aguero is City’s record goalscorer, breaking the record that stood for 78 years in November 2017 with his 178th strike.

He finished with 257 goals for City to his name, 181 in the Premier League which means he’s fourth in the all-time Premier League scoring charts.

He’s the top scoring foreign player in the Premier League history and has more hat-tricks than any other player in the competition with 12.

In fact, he has more Premier League trebles than the greatest goal getters in the game from Alan Shearer to Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry.

When he left in the summer, many have taken to Twitter to show their appreciation for Aguero, including super fan Liam Gallagher and former teammate Pablo Zabaleta.

Now, as he says goodbye for good, expect there to be more tears.
