Harry Kane closing in on beating Sergio Aguero’s all-time top scorer record and could be Tottenham’s talisman to score 1,000 home Premier League goals amid Heung-min Son’s Wolves curse

Harry Kane got off the mark for the new season last time out and can already break two goal scoring records with another against Wolves this weekend.

The Tottenham striker’s last-gasp equaliser rescued a point for Spurs in the dramatic 2-2 draw away at Chelsea to preserve the club’s unbeaten start.

Kane’s deft header from a corner not only ended his recent barren run against rivals Blues but also saw him level a Sergio Aguero record.

The England captain’s latest goal brought him level as the player with the joint-most goals scored for a single club in the Premier League.

Kane’s 184 strike haul for Tottenham is now equal with the feat managed by Aguero at Man City during his decade-long Etihad stint.

Kane came through the academy ranks at Spurs after initially joining at 11 years old but had to wait until 2014 for his first Premier League start – and goal – in a 5–1 win against Sunderland.

His next strike, which could come at home to Wolves live on talkSPORT this Saturday, will see him take Aguero’s record outright.

Kane will also have added motivation to break the record sooner rather than later with Tottenham on the cusp of their own slice of history.

Spurs have scored 999 home Premier League goals and could become only the fifth team to score 1,000 on home soil.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have already accomplished it meaning Man City are the only other Big Six club waiting to reach that milestone.

Heung-min Son would have been a safe bet to score Tottenham’s 1,000th home goal having banged in 15 Premier League goals in 2022.

That is more than any other player in England’s top-flight but Son is yet to open his account for the new season after Spurs’ first two games.

And the South Korean is unlikely to end his mini-drought in front of goal when he lines up against his bogey team Wolves.

Son, who has scored in huge matches against Man City and Liverpool, has curiously never been able to find the net against Wolves.

The 30-year-old has faced the West Midlands outfit on seven occasions without ever scoring – the longest drought he’s ever suffered against a Premier League team.

Wolves are without a win so far this season, with just one point after two games, and will now be facing Kane and Son who are both itching to get on the scoresheet… tough break!
