Sergio Aguero showed just how much he rates Phil Foden, labelling the Manchester City midfielder ‘my prince’ as he celebrated a goal against Real Madrid.
The former Etihad striker was watching the Champions League semi-final with ex-teammate Mario Balotelli and revealed he used to tell manager Pep Guardiola to play the academy graduate more.



In a brilliant game in Manchester, City won 4-3, and Foden scored the third of the home side’s four goals, which sent the fans wild.
But they weren’t the only ones as Aguero, who played with Foden from 2017 to 2021, showed he is still very much a supporter.
On social media platform TikTok, he gleefully said: “Foden goal, my prince, my prince charming”.
He then told Balotelli about how his conversations with Guardiola.
“Listen to me, Foden started playing when I told [Guardiola].
“I said on camera, Pep, make Foden a starter.

“Pep listened to me, and he did.”
He managed to ghost in to the penalty area, and unmarked, got on the end of a brilliant cross from Fernandinho.
Against LaLiga champions-in-waiting, the 21-year-old produced a spectacular display.
He also equalled a record in the Champions League that is only shared with Man United and England icon Wayne Rooney.
His goal against Los Blancos was his ninth in the competition’s history.
At 21 years old, no English player other than the former Three Lions captain, has scored more at that age, or younger.
